MATT SUTTON
A Solid Understanding of the Rock Voice
Matt Sutton has dedicated his life to the study of voice. He has spent over ten years studying with many teachers, each specializing in a different genre to develop a solid methodology. With a strong foundation in classical, rock, metal and pop, Matt has the tools necessary to make sure you not only improve the voice you have but develop the voice you want.
Matt got his start in music as a sophomore in high school, playing tuba in marching band and taking private voice lessons. He’s performed not only as a vocalist, but as a tubist, trombonist and pianist for different jazz, worship, and concert bands. He earned his Associates in Music while living in California’s Bay Area. While there he led a worship band for over 2 years as a vocalist and pianist. He currently lives in San Diego, attending San Diego State to earn his B.A in Vocal Performance. Matt has performed numerous concerts in not only solo classical voice, but choral and opera as well.
Outside of his formal education, Matt’s held a passion for metalcore and post-hardcore music. With bands like Ice Nine Kills, Bring Me the Horizon, and A Day to Remember being huge inspirations, Matt has begun work on his own metalcore project.
Through taking lessons with Matt, you will learn to sing the way you want to. Whether you want to learn to sing an operatic aria by Donizetti, a smooth jazz piece by the Rat Pack, or to safely scream you head off to some Motionless in White, Ice Nine Kills, or My Chemical Romance, Matt is the teacher for you!
Friendly, knowledgeable, professional. Provides personalized feedback and effective direction. Would recommend to anyone who wants to improve their vocal technique and find their own sound.
